Pengerebongan is a religious ceremony performed at Agung Petilan Temple in Kesiman Village, East Denpasar. The tradition is derived from the story of Rangda (Queen of the Devil) who forces people to stab themselves with a kris (traditional dagger), but the mighty Barong protects them to keep them from getting hurt. The ceremony begins with people in a trance condition bring in an amount of Barong and Rangda. They move around the wantilan three times where the cockfight takes place. Agung Petilan Temple is approximately 4 km from Denpasar City and easy to get to by private or public transportation.
